Well these are the leaked pics of the Droid 2 which Droid life has reported recently which clearly shows the model number as “DROID2″and Android version as “2.2″ . Its not a photoshop trick as many would think , because the pics are clear and not patchy and another point which comes here are the rumors of Droid X receiving Android 2.2 Froyo in August which co-relate both the stories .
Well this may be a test device which Motorola is working on with the Froyo build.
Well one thing is for sure it’s going to have the same tweaks that the Droid X has. Even if you can’t see it in this screenshot directly, you can notice that the notification bar is the exact same one you’ll find in the Droid 2’s bigger cousin. Additionally, the hardware keys match that of the Droid X’s, more so than the original Droid’s.
Moreover the Specs of device will be :
- 5 MP Camera
- 3G Mobile Hotspot
- 1 GHz CPU
- 8 GB onboard memory
- 8 GB mSD card installed, support for up to 16 GB
- Dark chrome color (rather than black)
- Roughly the same size as the original
- However, what else is different, is the keyboard.
Previously Gizmodo caught a hands on ,
now Engadget is reporting that it will go on sale as early as August 12, but promotion won’t start until August 23
but Engadget is also claiming that a White R2-D2 version of the phone will be available
Official announcements are yet to be made but still we have a clue what Motorola and Verizon are upto . Lets see if what the Droid 2 is going to bring new in it along with the Android 2.2 Froyo .

Thanks for the info. I recently purchased a Droid and upgraded from my enV Touch. I used to be very excited to get a phone to make use of all of the helpful features. Why does android’s texting app fall in need of my vintage enV Touch. I assumed it might be an upgrade. I looked far and wide, and handiest appear to see chompSMS and Handcent. Is there some other’s that you simply guys might recommend?
