Google release latest Android OS breakdown;2.3 Gingerbread increases to 38%

Google has released a new report showing the latest Android OS breakdown and the numbers seem promising. The report released in July showed Android 2.3 Gingerbread holding 17.2% of the Android eco system, while Android 2.2 Froyo still has its dominant presence with 59.4%.
The latest report shows us that Gingerbread has had quite an increase in the last 2 months holding now 38.7% of the Android eco-system. Less than half of the Android user base are running on Froyo. Honeycomb is still in the minority with just 1.8%.

Android tablets have yet to make an impact as its main competitor is the most preferred iPad. With the entry of the Amazon Kindle Fire, we hope to see new development in the Android Tablet space. Ice Cream sandwich would also make its entry end of 2011 which should contribute to the increase in Android user base.
