Previously we saw the Droid Incredible ran out of stock couple of times, starting from its launch. The online Verizon portal will prompt you with the message when you try to order an HTC Incredible that says – Due to high demand, this device will ship by so and so date. The story continues with HTC EVO 4G as well and surprisingly Sprint is not even listing a potential shipment date for the HTC Evo 4G who has sold 300,000 of its Evo 4G phones so far. The shortage of HTC Evo, Droid Incredible and iPhone 4 antenna issues might boost sales figure of Droid X, which is slated to hit the shelves later this week.

Both the EVO 4G and Droid Incredible have AMOLED displays and currently Samsung and LG are the only manufacturers of AMOLED screens, and both are unable to fulfill the demand. Currently, Samsung is working to ramp up production but will not be fully functional until 2012. AU Optronics and TPO Display are also working on AMOLED products, but won’t be ready until 2010 or early next year.

HTC has confirmed its supply problems to the WSJ and Sprint CEO Dan Hesse was quoted as saying, “we thought we would have more of a head start than we’ll end up having.” The CEO was referring to America’s first 4G handset HTC EVO 4G. HTC, the manufacturer of the device, cited part shortages from third-party vendors as the root cause of the delays. HTC has said that they have signed several different contracts with other vendors (including Sony) to provide LCD screens and other parts for future handsets in an attempt to prevent delays.
