100,000 Android device activations per day says Google

Vic Gundotra revealed at Google I/O yesterday – Google was activating 30,000 androids a day last year , this Feb the figure just doubled to 60,000 and now Google is activating 100,000 Android phones a day .Those are really big figures .

With more than 50,000 Apps in the Android market  and about 180,000 Android application developers , Android is the Second best selling Smartphone OS after Blackberry and ahead of their chief rival . Gundortra also pointed out the stats from AdMob that Android was first in terms of web and app usage among smartphones.

The Android powered devices now count up to 60 from 21 OEM’s in 48 countries, and these devices are spread across 59 carriers.

The Android devices and Android Apps both are growing at a tremendous rate in the market. Android application development is definitely going to change the rules of mobile computing.
