introducing the Android 3.0 Honeycomb logo!

When we knew the next Android OS was to be called Honeycomb, we dint really give much thought to whether it would get a logo.

With the SDK for the Android 3.0 released, there were few who found the logo within the SDK. The logo is of a blue bumblebee. It looks pretty cool and goes with the theme of Android and Honeycomb.

Good news for Android developers: Android 3.0 SDK Preview goes live

It will be some time before a Android 3.0 Tablet would be in our hands, but the good news is that Android developers can now start developing and creating apps for tablets. On wednesday, Google released a preview to thier Android 3.0 Honeycomb SDK. The SDK includes
  • an early Android 3.0 system image for use in the Android emulator
  • Android 3.0 library with non-final APIs. Since its non-final, some API’s may change in behaivior or availability once the final SDK is made available.
  • A new WXGA emulator skin for an extra large Android Virtual Device New documentation for Android 3.0, including a complete API reference, new developer guides, and an API differences report between Android 3.0 and 2.3.
The New Features that have been included in the SDK will help developers create amazing visual and interaction experiences with Tablets. Some of the highlights are
UI framework for creating great apps for larger screen devices: Developers can use a new UI components, new themes, richer widgets and notifications, drag and drop, and other new features to create rich and engaging apps for users on larger screen devices.
High-performance 2D and 3D graphics: A new property-based animation framework lets developers add great visual effects to their apps. A built-in GL renderer lets developers request hardware-acceleration of common 2D rendering operations in their apps, across the entire app or only in specific activities or views. For adding rich 3D scenes, developers take advantage of a new 3D graphics engine called Renderscript.
Support for multicore processor architectures: Android 3.0 is optimized to run on either single- or dual-core processors, so that applications run with the best possible performance.
Rich multimedia: New multimedia features such as HTTP Live streaming support, a pluggable DRM framework, and easy media file transfer through MTP/PTP, give developers new ways to bring rich content to users.
New types of connectivity: New APIs for Bluetooth A2DP and HSP let applications offer audio streaming and headset control. Support for Bluetooth insecure socket connection lets applications connect to simple devices that may not have a user interface.
Enhancements for enterprise: New administrative policies, such as for encrypted storage and password expiration, help enterprise administrators manage devices more effectively.
The full SDK will be made available in a few weeks. Additionally updates have also been released for SDK Tools (r9), NDK (r5b), and ADT Plugin for Eclipse (9.0.0).

AnDevCon – The First Android Developer Conference is here

The first ever Android developer conference is here, BZ Media LLC the publisher of Software development Times is organizing this developer conference .Starting with intensive workshops and moving to the technical classes , the conference will last for a total of 3 days . Companies selling products and services to Android developers and marketers will be provided with a tabletop exhibit area.

Of course, developing a successful and useful mobile application involves a lot more than just throwing a quick piece of software against the market wall to see if it sticks. This biggest challenge to success is the bar measuring the quality of applications, keeps getting raised. There are a huge number of apps that actually do nothing, and there are lots of sophisticated apps that never come up. One other big challenge is there really isn’t a clear picture of why some things sell well and others do not, so there is no definitive road-map to success. Some things sell very well and even the developers don’t know why. This is why the AnDevCon is here to share some vital aspects of Android app development. The conference will cover topics like:

Running a Successful Android Apps Business ,How to Speed Up Android Dev with Model-Driven-Development ,Coding Practices for Android Developers ,Using and Leveraging Android’s Sensors ,Overview of Mobile Development Platforms, Building Rich Mobile Apps with HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript ,Android Internals: From SDK to NDK to APIs and lot more .

The conference is an invitation to all app developer, marketers and Android geeks
