Motorola Defy :The indestructible monster takes some real tests (Video)
Sep 28, 2010 Android Phones, News
Few weeks ago Motorola announced its upcoming phone Defy, which according to Motorola is an ultra durable phone and the advertisement shows its designed to handle almost everything that the phone may face in day to day life .
Some folks actually decided to test it and finally we are here with a video from Expansys :
Lets not have to many expectations from the phone being a smartphone but it does pretty well , survived a drop (although wasn’t high enough ) , and in the water (though it was not boiling ).
Nice to have a highly resistant phone from Motorola , we wish Android developers develop some cool apps like hit me hard , kick me on my face to test the phones actual strength , fine jokes apart but we have a detailed review coming in for the pros and cons of the Motorola Defy in few days .

Galaxy Tab Data plan prices rumored
Sep 28, 2010 Android Tablets, News
There have been a lot of users dying to know the Galaxy Tab prices with operator subsidies after knowing that Galaxy Tab is going to be available for around £616.88 ( $949 ) a figure that is confirmed by Clove .
Months back when iPad was launched users simply paid $29.99 for a unlimited data plan but this has come to an end and now users pay $25 for 2GB and this was only possible because of the strong ties between Apple and AT&T but if the prices we see here are correct , Samsung may not have even tried or maybe AT&T hates people who love Android on their network .
Data plans available are:
- $15/100mb for 1 day
- $30/300mb for 7 days
- $50/1gb for 30 days
The prices are so high that i would rather buy another Android phone and activate data plan if my consumption is around 5Gigs per month . That’s really pathetic for users buying a Galaxy Tab on contract , hope carriers come up with something better and these prices are not final . Until then its better to buy a unlocked Galaxy Tab rather than falling in such overpriced data plans .

Amazon’s Android App store/Market launching soon
Sep 28, 2010 Android App Development, News, android apps
After the big Red now its Amazon who is considering its own Android application store/market which will compete with Google’s official Android market and also the V Cast App Store by giving Android developers some perks .
- Amazon App Store / market will offer Android app developers 70% and greater of the purchase price or 20% of list price .
- The List Price is something which prevents android developers from selling their app cheaper on other similar services like Android Market , V Cast App store or any such authorized store .
- To register Android application developers need to pay a one time $99 fee
- Apart from this Android developers need to update their app at Amazon at the same time they update their apps on other similar market
- Apps will be laced with Amazon DRM , which means they work only on devices Amazon approves
- Amazon has total control on its App store / market , so it can pull any app at any moment if it feels to .
- Free apps are allowed
- Amazon app store/market is only available to US for now
- Something more interesting : “We have sole discretion to determine all features and operations of this program and to set the retail price and other terms on which we sell Apps.”
Amazon is really going to frustrate Android app developers with its new restrictions specially parts like app updates , Amazon DRM , pricing control and removal of apps .
So Android developers need to submit apps to three application stores and keep updating application in all the stores at the same time regardless of the wait time required for the approval and the variety of restrictions they need to avail on all of these stores .
Well more details are about to come with the App store being actually functional in US .

Google adding paid app support to Android Market in more countries
Sep 27, 2010 Android App Development, News, android apps
Recently Google sent an email to all registered Android developers and according to the email more countries will get support for paid apps in coming few weeks .
Android app developers are really desperate to know the list of countries included but their no official word from Google on this , so we Android developers need to be more patient and wait for the updates from Google . While few members over at XDA forums from Hungary , Poland and Sweden have reported that they can access paid apps in Android Market . Hope this was the best news of the week for Android application developers and hold on , there’s more to come and the list is supposed to grow longer .
The message from Google ( Android Market) :
Android Market Support
Hello,
We’re writing to inform you about some changes to Android Market that require your attention.
Over the next few weeks, we’ll be adding paid apps support for additional countries. If you have selected to publish your paid apps to all locations and intend to support all new locations as we expand the number of supported countries for paid apps, you don’t have to do anything. If you have selected to publish your paid apps to all locations but intend to only target the currently supported 14 countries, please update your location selections to target these specific countries.
Please look for follow-up emails when we introduce paid apps support for specific additional countries in the coming weeks. At that time, you’ll have the option to target these specific countries.
Thanks, and we look forward to continue working with you on Android
Market.Sincerely,
The Android Market TeamGoogle, Inc.

Until now ,users from only 14 countries have been able to enjoy paid apps on their Android’s , and this has been the main reason behind software piracy which is increasing day by day in South America , Asia and parts of European countries .

So users and Android developers lets hope for the best and check out the paid Apps market coming soon to our countries .
